Tampere University Student’s Guide

Late arrival for exchange students

Tampere University expects all incoming exchange students to arrive within the official arrival window, follow our academic calendar, and start their exchange studies on the agreed dates. We do not expect students to arrive late. Most courses cannot be started online, many courses have mandatory attendance, and course information is provided by teachers only to students who have registered for courses on time. Missing the official start of the semester may therefore prevent you from starting your exchange studies altogether.

Late arrival is accepted only in exceptional circumstances, such as delays related to the residence permit application, and only with prior permission from a mobility specialist at Tampere University. In all cases, late arrivals must be reported immediately to International Mobility Services. Students who are exceptionally permitted to arrive late are responsible for completing all required steps listed in the checklist below as early as possible.
