Welcome to TAMK!
Congratulations on your admission to the Bilingual Nursing Programme (group 26TOKASA). You will be studying towards becoming a registered nurse, and we are delighted to welcome you into the TAMK community.
This page provides essential practical information. Please read it carefully and prepare accordingly. It is your responsibility to read, understand and follow the information.

Orientation and starting your studies
Your studies begin with mandatory orientation on TAMK Main Campus in Autumn 2026. The exact dates will be announced later.

Arrival in Finland and TAMK Main Campus
You must arrive in Finland well before orientation begins. It is essential that you start your studies on time. Part of the orientation can be available online, but all students who are in Finland must attend orientation on campus.
If you cannot arrive in Finland by the start of your studies, you must notify the Welcome Team in advance: welcome.tamk [at] tuni.fi (welcome[dot]tamk[at]tuni[dot]fi)

On your first day, you must bring an official photo ID such as:
Passport
Finnish identity card issued by the police
Finnish driver’s license
KELA photocard
EU/EEA national identity card with photo

Orientation week
Orientation week is mandatory for all students. It provides crucial information and is the best and only way to begin your studies successfully. You will become familiar with TAMK facilities and services, meet other students, and connect with key staff such as:

If you do not arrive on time (by 1.10.2026), your enrollment will be cancelled, and you will not be allowed to join classes.
Teams channel for new students
You can join the Teams channel for new students once you activate your TUNI account. Student tutors and teacher tutors will share orientation materials there.

Studying
The programme includes extensive independent work and digital tasks. You must have a personal laptop already on your first day of studies.
You must activate your TUNI user account in advance—please read the instructions provided.

The degree consists of 210 ECTS credits and the average completion time is 3,5 years.

The programme is bilingual (English and Finnish). Theoretical studies begin mainly in English, gradually incorporating more Finnish. Note that supervised clinical trainings are conducted in Finnish. Supervision is provided only in Finnish.
Practical trainings occur across various healthcare settings and include three-shift work, which you must be prepared to participate in. All the training placements are not in Tampere region and sometimes you must travel and find accommodation also in other cities.

Vaccination and Tuberculosis Risk Assessment
Because professional studies begin early in the programme, it is your responsibility to ensure you are prepared for clinical placements.
Therefore, you must:
Complete a Tuberculosis self-assessment.
Provide student health services (FSHS) with your current vaccination information.
Download and save the self-assessment form for your records. If your vaccinations need to be updated, these can be completed at FSHS at the beginning of your stud
