Congratulations and Welcome to TAMK!
You have been selected in the next intake to the bilingual nursing programme (26TOKASA group) to study towards becoming a registered nurse. We are happy have you as a part of the TAMK community.
This page contains practical advice and other useful information, so please read it carefully.
Please note that changes are possible and the page is subject to updates. Ensure you check the information again before the start of your studies, and remember to follow your TUNI email.
Orientation and starting your studies
Your studies start with mandatory orientation in Autumn 2026 on TAMK Main Campus, exact dates will be updated.
Read the checklist for new Bachelor's and Master's degree students
Please, arrive to Finland well before orientation. It is highly important that you are able to start your studies on time. If you are having difficulties arriving on time, please let us know as soon as possible. Some parts of the orientation are available online. All students who are in Finland, please attend at TAMK, not online. Your studies will begin the best possible way, when you come to TAMK personally.
If you are not able to arrive in Finland by the beginning of the studies, please inform us in advance. Send information to our Welcome Team: welcome.tamk [at] tuni.fi (welcome[dot]tamk[at]tuni[dot]fi).
Official ID: On the first day, remember to bring with you one of your official ID, e.g. passport, Finnish identity card (with a photo) granted by the police, Finnish driver’s license, KELA photocard, EU/EEA national identity card (with a photo).
Our Study Affairs Coordinator will send you an email if your original school certificates need to be checked in TAMK.
Orientation week
Orientation week is mandatory for all students and the orientation is the best way to get started on your studies. You will get familiar with TAMK facilities and services, get to know your fellow students and meet the essential staff, e.g. the head of degree programme, your teacher tutor, other lecturers, your student counsellor, social counsellor, student union members and many more.
If you are not able to arrive on time, we cannot guarantee that you are able to enroll all your classes.
Teams channel for new students
You may join Teams channel for new students where you may also find your student tutors and teacher tutors. Tutors will add material from orientation week to this channel and you may also ask questions.
You need activated tuni account to join the Teams. Links will be updated.
Studying
BYOL - Bring Your Own Laptop
The studies involve a lot of independent research and various tasks, which is why we require the possibility to use a computer. Please, bring a computer with you right from the beginning.

Curriculum
The scope of the degree is 210 credits and the average duration is 3,5 years.
Before starting your studies, you are encouraged to take a closer look at your curriculum to better understand your study and learning goals. The descriptions of courses include methods, teachers, timing of the course within the academic year, evaluation criteria and exam type.
Lin to curriculum will be updated here.
This nursing programme is bilingual (English and Finnish). Theoretical studies will be conducted at first mainly in English, combining Finnish. At supervised clinical training (practical training) you will use Finnish language. There are also courses in Finnish at your curriculum and more available at university.
Practical training and clinical placements will happen in many different kind of health care environments. It means also shiftwork for students. So prepare to be able to practice in three-shift-work.
Class schedule
You may see your class schedule beforehand in Lukkarikone. Choose "group search" and give search term "26tokasa".
Vaccination and tuberculosis risk
Since professional studies at TAMK start from the very beginning of the degree, you should prepare for your first clinical placements in the field. For this you will need to complete a Tuberculosis self-assesment and provide our student health care information on your current vaccination coverage. Please fill in and save to yourself a self-assesment form from that page. If there is a need to supplement your vaccinations, this can be done at student health care (FSHS) at the beginning of your studies.
