Before student exchange

Going on exchange involves several practical arrangements. Start preparing as soon as you have been informed of your selection, and follow the instructions provided by both Tampere University and your host university. Plan your exchange studies, complete the tasks that become available in Mobility-Online and arrange your accommodation, funding, travel documents, insurance and healthcare matters in good time. Inform the International Mobility Services of any changes to the dates or plans for your exchange.

Start with these:

• apply to your host university by their application deadlines and follow their application and arrival instructions
• prepare a preliminary study plan
• check the validity of your passport and whether you need a visa or residence permit
• arrange accommodation both at your exchange destination and in Finland
• take out insurance that covers the entire exchange period
• complete the tasks that become available in Mobility-Online by the relevant deadlines
