Staff Parking

You can purchase a parking permit through eParking. Log in to the system using your HAKA credentials.

In the system, you can find the parking areas for each campus along with price information. If you purchase a general permit, please note that it does not guarantee an available parking space; it only grants the right to park when spaces are available. You can enter several license plate numbers into the system, but only one can be active at a time. The driver is responsible for ensuring that the correct license plate is active. You can also change and activate the license plate using a smartphone. The change takes effect immediately. All parking areas are monitored by the city’s parking enforcement, and inspectors can verify payment based on the license plate number.

The parking permit is sold for the campus where your workplace is located. If your workplace changes to another campus, inform IGL of the change by email.

A parking permit also allows parking at other campuses’ (Hervanta, City Centre, Arvo, and TAMK) parking areas. A cold-space permit allows parking in cold parking areas on other campuses, and a pole-space or parking-hall permit allows parking in pole spaces on other campuses. Charging poles are not locked.

Users of pole spaces are billed separately for electricity based on consumption at 20 cents/kWh. The poles can be used to charge electric vehicles. At the City Centre and Arvo campuses, there are also a few semi-fast charging poles intended only for charging electric vehicles. Electricity at these poles costs 25 cents/kWh. Parking at these semi-fast charging stations is not allowed without actively charging an electric vehicle.

Please note that you also need a parking permit for a motorcycle. Enter the motorcycle’s license plate number into the system when parking it. A permit is also required in parking areas designated for motorcycles.

Terminating Parking Rights

You may terminate your parking permit during the contract period. All parking spaces have a one (1) calendar month notice period. The notice period is calculated from the last day of the calendar month in which the termination is submitted. Termination of the parking agreement is done in the eParking service in accordance with the terms mentioned above. Any prepaid fees for future months will be refunded.

Parking With a Day Permit

Staff of Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences can also park on campus with a day permit. The parking fee is €3 per day (the system incorrectly displays €3/hour). With a day permit, you can park on all campuses during the same day. You may park in either cold spaces or pole spaces. Electricity used at pole spaces must be paid separately based on consumption.

Parking rights are reserved and paid for via the eParking mobile app by IGL-Technologies Oy. The app can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store, and a direct download link can be found on the eparking.fi front page. You can access the app using Haka login (Tampere higher education institutions).

This parking option is intended for staff who occasionally need to visit the campuses. The parking right applies to all employees working on the university and TAMK campuses, including those employed outside the higher education community. The day permit applies to unmarked parking spaces on campuses. At the Hervanta campus, the parking hall and the Etuparkki area in front of it are not university parking areas and are therefore not included in this parking permit. If no spaces are available, parking is not possible.

Quick Guide for Using the eParking App When Starting Parking

  1. Log in to the eParking.fi app (Haka login). Open the app.
  2. Move the P icon on the map to the campus area until the text TUNI staff day permit €3.00/day appears (the area name lists campuses). (If these do not appear, check that the P icon is selected in the lower right corner.)
  3. Tap the Select button shown on the screen (and fill in the required information). Press Start Parking.

Payment is made through the short-term parking section using your credit card information. You may save your information (license plate, credit card) in the app. You will receive a weekly receipt of your short-term parking to your tuni email (on Saturdays).

Student Parking

You can purchase a parking permit through the eParking system. Log in using your HAKA credentials.

In the system, you can find the parking areas for each campus along with price details. If you purchase a general permit, please note that it does not guarantee an available spot; it only grants the right to park when spaces are free. You can register multiple license plate numbers, but only one can be active at a time. The driver is responsible for ensuring that the correct license plate is active. You can also change and activate the plate via smartphone. The change takes effect immediately. All parking areas fall under city parking enforcement, and inspectors can check payment based on the license plate. A limited number of student permits is available, and if they run out, the eParking system allows you to join a waiting list. A student permit does not entitle you to park on other campuses.

Please note that you also need a parking permit for a motorcycle. Enter the motorcycle’s license plate number into the system when parking it. A permit is also required for parking areas designated for motorcycles.

Campus-Specific Parking Instructions

Parking at the City Centre Campus

Both staff and students can purchase a parking permit at the City Centre Campus. The number of student permits is limited due to the small number of parking spaces.

About half of the parking spaces on top of Pinni are reserved exclusively for SYK tenants and therefore cannot be used with a university permit. The Pinni rooftop parking spaces are cold spaces, even though they still have old, decommissioned poles.

There are no visitor parking spaces at the City Centre Campus.

Parking at the Hervanta Campus

Both staff and students can purchase parking permits at the Hervanta Campus. Student parking is limited to the Festia parking area and the Takaparkki. The parking hall on campus is not covered by the university parking permit.

Visitor parking spaces are available on Korkeakoulunkatu and parking can be paid via Parkman, Easypark, Moovy, or eParking mobile apps. Visitor spaces are located on the right-hand parking area when arriving from Hervannan valtaväylä and on the left-hand side along the street. A parking hall next to the area also offers visitor parking in available spaces.

Parking at the Kauppi Campus

Both staff and students can purchase permits at the Kauppi Campus. The number of student permits is limited due to the small number of spaces.

There are no parking spaces designated for visitors at the Kauppi Campus.

Parking at the TAMK Main Campus

Both staff and students can purchase parking permits at the Main Campus. The number of student permits is limited due to the small number of spaces, and permits often require joining a waiting list.

There are designated paid visitor parking spaces at the Main Campus. Payment is possible only via Parkman, Easypark, Moovy, or eParking mobile apps. Visitor parking costs €2.50/hour on weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00.
