Study support workshops and groups

Check out the Joint Guidance and Counselling Services' group offerings for the academic year 2025–2026 and join us! The Joint Guidance and Counselling Services offer a wide range of group guidance services related to well-being, study skills and career planning, provided by study psychologists, guidance counsellors, career counsellors and individual arrangements specialists, as well as peer counsellors. Below you will find the group offerings by period. Please note that registration is required for some groups. Detailed links to events and news on the Intranet, with possible registration links, will be updated in the group information throughout the academic year.

Well-being and study skills

Learning Academic Text and Preparing for Exams, lecture: Wed 26.11. at 14–16 (City Centre)

  • The 'Learning Academic Text and Preparing for Exams' -lecture will concentrate on memory and reading academic texts. The lecture offers practical tips on making notes and preparing for exams, as well as maintaining your mental alertness for studying. Participants are encouraged to share their own best practices and tips to fellow students.

Joint lectures: Study & stay II: internship and summer jobs: Mon 1.12. at 10–12 (online)

Puhutaan suomea! conversation club: On Tuesdays, alternating every other week on the City Centre campus and every other week on the Hervanta Campus at 16.00–17.30.

  • Finnish language conversation club. We offer a relaxed and friendly environment for students learning Finnish at all levels, as well as native speakers interested in making international friends who want to help them practice. Conversation club is held in Navigaattori spaces and there is no need to register.

Get Stuff Done! study sessions: weekly (City centre and hybrid)

  • Does it feel challenging to grab your books, stay focused or study independently? To support independent studying, the Get Stuff Done! -study sessions will continue in the autumn semester 2025. The Get Stuff Done! sessions utilise the Pomodoro study technique. In the sessions, you will study independently with a staff member timing your work and breaks. You can come along to, for example, read for an exam, write your study diary, do research for a thesis or compose an essay.

Get Thesis Done workshops: on Mondays (Hervanta) and on Tuesdays (City Centre)

  • The Get Thesis Done workshops are intended to support you in the advancing of your thesis. The workshops are carried out by trained peer tutors who schedule the working time and arrange peer support. Please note that peer tutors do not provide guidance in matters related to the content of your thesis.

Thesis weekend: on weekends (Hervanta)

  • Thesis weekend is an intensive weekend to advance your own thesis with your peers. At the Thesis weekends students work on the goals they have set for themselves. The event is intended to support the advancing of the thesis, especially if the has student challenges in achieving and scheduling one's own work, combining studies with their work/life situation or has any need for peer support. The weekends are carried out by trained peer tutors. They schedule the working time and arrange peer support. Please note that peer tutors do not provide guidance in matters related to the content of your thesis.
