Correspondence of old studies
Students have the right to complete their degree in accordance with the degree structure set out in the curriculum that was in force in the year they were first granted the right to study at Tampere University, subject to any separately issued transitional provisions. Students may, if they wish, transfer to a newer curriculum, either in full or in part, by updating the versions of their studies in their personal study plan (PSP). A change of version may apply to the entire degree structure or to an individual study module or course.
For all courses, both the versions valid during the current curriculum period and the versions valid during the previous curriculum period remain available. Any course versions from earlier curriculum periods are marked as expired when a new curriculum enters into force. No new academic entries (including credit transfer) may be recorded for expired course versions.

According to the degree regulations, the right to study granted for a degree includes the right to complete the studies stated in the curriculum. The main principle is that the study modules, study units, thesis and maturity test completed while pursuing a degree, as well as records of language skills, and the study units completed in postgraduate degree do not expire and they are included in the degrees with the original credit points.
The faculty councils decide on more specific criteria of validity and expiration. The correspondence of study units may be indicated in the transitional provisions verified by the faculties in the transition from the old curriculum to the new one. For detailed Sisu-instructions, see the page Updating the personal study plan as the curriculum period changes.
