Exam services schedule, invigilate and organise centralised exams, which are conventional paper-based exams arranged in Hervanta and City centre campus. Centralised exams consist of exams of different faculties, which teachers have assigned to be centrally organised. You must register for centralised exams (including retakes) in Sisu. Exam registration begins at the same time as course registration and ends one week before the exam.&nbsp;Where and how is the exam organised?&nbsp;Typically on the campus where the course is held. The exam hall is announced in Sisu after registration closes, usually six days before the exam. During the exam session, invigilators will guide you on which part of the exam hall each exam takes place.What do I need to bring with me? You need to bring writing tools and a recognisable photo ID (e.g., student card). Outerwear, bags, electronic devices, and other items must be left along the walls of the hall. You may also bring a label-free water bottle. If calculators, cheat sheets, or other aids are allowed in the exam, this will be specified separately. Loan calculators are available in the exam halls if needed.How many exam attempts? Three – the original exam and two retakes.Can I get individual arrangements?&nbsp;Yes, if you have a proposal for individual study arrangements. You don’t need to present the proposal to the exam services; it will be verified directly through student guidance. You must contact exam services about the need for individual arrangements at least one week before the exam.<h2>Lecture exams</h2>Exams held during the course as part of the teaching sessions – typically during the final class. The teacher is responsible for the practical arrangements of lecture exams.Do I need to register? Quick guide to exams

<h3>Enrolment for an examination</h3>Enroling for an exam is mandatory and only those registered may participate, and this applies to exam resits too. <a href="https://opiskelijanopas.tuni.fi/en/tampere-university/studying-0/course-registration/course-registration-dates">Exam registration opens at the same time as course registration</a> and closes 7 days before the exam. Cancellation must be done no later than on the workday (4pm) before the exam. Student may enroll and take only one exam at once. Only the answer sheets of students who have signed up for the examination will be forwarded to the lecturer for grading.Exam registration must be canceled in Sisu before 16.00 (4pm) on the day preceding the exam. If you don't cancel the registration, you will lose one of the three exam attempts. Here are the instructions for exam registration (note, that you must have a personal study plan (PSP) before registering): <ol type="1"><li>Open the leaflet of the course and check that you have included the current version of the course to your PSP.</li><li>Move on to the Completion methods -tab on the leaflet and choose exam as the completion method.</li><li>A banner appears at the top of the page informing you that the exam has been selected. It has a link through which you can proceed to enroll for the exam. At this point you can also delete selections.</li><li>Click the link, choose “enroll” and confirm your enrollment. Follow the same steps to enroll for an exam resit.</li><li>To cancel your enrolment for an exam, navigate to your timetable and go the same location where you first enrolled. Please note that there is a deadline for cancelling your enrolment.</li><li>If prerequisites for the exam are fulfilled, your registration will show as "processing" until the registration closes and the status will change to processed. </li></ol> <h3>Post-deadline enrolment</h3>For a well-founded reason, a student may enrol for an exam post deadline if they have not previously completed it. The course must be included in the student's degree and PSP (personal study plan). Post-deadline enrolment is possible only if the request for post-deadline enrolment including all required information has been sent in time, the exam is being arranged and there is room in the examination hall. To enrol for an exam post-deadline, the student must personally contact Exam services (examservices.tau [at] tuni.fi) on the workday preceding the exam before 4pm the latest. The request should include the details of the exam (course code, date and time, teacher), your PSP as well as your reasoning for the request. <h3>Solutions for most common registration issues </h3>A) Your registration did not go through or was rejected<ul><li>Did you remember to confirm the registration? If not, go to Registration-tab, and finish the registration of the exam. If the registration has already closed, see instructions for post-deadline enrolment.</li><li>Are the requirements for the exam fulfilled? Open the details of the exam to view the requirements. If requirements are not fulfilled, make the required changes:<ul><li>If you are missing compulsory prerequisites for the course, contact the teacher</li><li>If you don't have the correct version of the course included in the primary study plan, update your PSP</li></ul></li></ul>B) You can't find the exam via course leaflet <ul><li>It is likely that you have not updated the current version of the course to your PSP. If this is the case, change the version to match the ongoing academic year. </li></ul>

Enroling for centralised exams

<h3>What happens during a centralised exam?&nbsp;</h3>Students are called in about 15 minutes before the start of the exam. Centralised exams begin exactly on the hour upon the invigilator's announcement. Students can leave after 30 minutes, and after this those arriving late can no longer enter the exam hall.Students are seated according to the instructions of the invigilators. Exam papers and answer sheets have been placed to each table and cannot be touched until permitted by the invigilator. Students write down their name, student number and course code on each answer sheet, and also number each sheet. Unsigned answer sheets will not be graded. When leaving the exam room, students must hand over all answer sheets to the invigilator unless otherwise instructed.&nbsp;An attendance sheet is circulated in the examination room, and all students write their name and the course code on the sheet.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Remember to bring writing utensils and a photo ID (preferably student card) to the exam. Any other belongings (coats, bags etc.) are left beside the wall of the exam room or other designated area. Mobile phones must be switched off or set on airplane mode. Apart from unlabeled water bottles, no food or drinks should be brought to the exam room unless the student has contacted Exam services before the exam and agreed on such individual arrangements.&nbsp;Use of electronic devices (such as mobile phones or smart watches) or other materials is prohibited. If a calculator is allowed in the exam, the memory must be emptied before entering the exam hall. Calculators will be checked before the start of the exam, and any material found in the calculator can be viewed as misconduct.Students must follow all the instructions provided on the exam paper or stated by the invigilator. Borrowing materials from other students or communicating with each other in any way during an examination is not allowed.&nbsp;Candidates will be accompanied on bathroom visits by an invigilator.&nbsp;<h3>Exam attempts</h3>Students can enroll for exams three times regardless of whether they pass or fail their earlier exam attempts. There is always at least one exam resit for an exam of an implementation.&nbsp;Re-enrolling for a course does not add to the exam attempts. Students are not entitled to exactly two or three exams if they do not take advantage of all the exam sessions on offer. Overlapping exams are not considered a sufficient reason to arrange additional exam sessions. Each exam has a retake option to ensure that students have at least one opportunity to attend the exam despite possible overlaps in the exam schedule.&nbsp;Once a student has exhausted the maximum number of exam attempts, they must personally contact the teacher in charge of the course well in advance to inquire about the possibility to be granted an additional attempt. The teacher shall conduct a personal counselling discussion with the student before making the decision. Teacher either grants the student an additional attempt or advises the student to retake the course.&nbsp;<h3>Grading</h3>Teachers grade exams within 21 days of the exam date or the last day of the exam period. Holiday seasons of summer and Christmas are an exception, when teachers have more time for publishing the results.&nbsp;

Centralised exam practices 

Individual arrangements are possible in paper-based exams. Exam services will verify your right to individual arrangements, so you do not need to send the document. Here are the instructions for most common arrangements: <ul><li>Individual exam room: Accessible exam rooms in Hervanta campus (A218, Kampusareena) and in City centre campus (PA026, Päätalo) can be booked by one person at a time without notice. The booking is done in the EXAM system.</li><li>Extra time: Contact the teacher and ask for an exam with extra time. The request must be sent no later than a week before the exam. Once the exam has been created, you will receive an email with a direct link to registration.</li><li>Medical equipment: If medical equipment are needed in the exam room, let Exam services know before the exam, so that it can be taken into account in surveillance.</li><li>Arrangements that require presence of personnel, such as use of toilet during the exam: Agree on the date and time of the exam before booking with Exam services.
