Forgot to enrol?

All university students are required to enrol either as attending or absent for each academic year in order to retain their right to study.  The deadline for enrolling for the academic year 2025 - 2026 for both autumn and spring semesters is 4 September 2025. Students who fail to enrol by the enrolment deadline lose their right to pursue studies at Tampere University. You can, however, apply for your study right to be reinstated (Universities Act 2009/558, §43).

If you have missed enrolment for only the current semester or academic year, you must apply for the restoration of study right and pay the application fee through this online form. The application fee is 50.00 EUR (Government Decree on Fees Charged for Universities’ Operations 17.12.2009/1082).

If you are required to pay tuition and do not have a scholarship covering the full amount, the tuition fee must be paid before your study right can be restored. Additionally, Bachelor's and Master's degree students must pay the Student Union membership fee before re-enrolling. If you have missed enrolment for multiple academic years, please follow the instructions below:

1. Fill in the form Application for restoration of right to study. You can also pick it up from the Student Affairs Office. 

2. Pay the processing fee and submit the application.
   1. Go to the payment page: https://www.lyyti.in/Opiskeluoikeutta_koskevien_hakemusten_kasittelymaksu_5801/en
   2. Enter the requested information and click the “Continue” button.
   3. Confirm the information, select the payment method, and pay the fee. There is no need to provide a receipt for the payment.
   4. Deliver the form to the education specialist of your degree programme. You can find the contact details on this page.
3. If you also need an extension to your right to study, fill in the relevant form and its enclosures. Please read more information about the time limit for the degree completion.
4. You will be notified of the decision by post or to the e-mail address you have given.
5. Enrol according to the instructions. Pay the student union membership fee (optional for doctoral students) and the healthcare fee to Kela.
6. If your user account (tuni) has been inactivated, you can reactivate it by setting a new password at password.tuni.fi the day after your enrolment has been registered. In case of problems concerning your account, please contact the IT Helpdesk.
