Tampere University awards you a digital Finnish and English degree certificate for your bachelor’s, master’s, licentiate and doctoral degrees.

A digital Finnish and English transcripts of records are given as an appendix to the degree certificate. In addition, you receive a Diploma Supplement for international use. All information related to the studies, including information related to the teacher's qualifications, can be seen in the appendices of the digital degree certificate.

After you have completed all studies required for a degree, you can apply for a degree certificate in Sisu. Please see instruction on the How to Apply for a Degree Certificate in Sisu page. All courses and required study module grades should be registered before you submit your application.

The digital degree certificate is delivered to both the tuni e-mail address and the secondary e-mail address (= different from the tuni e-mail address). So add your secondary e-mail address to Sisu well in advance. You will receive a link via email to download the certificate. The link is valid for 30 days. Remember to save the document to your own device and check its contents carefully. In case of problems, please contact the study office.

Digital degree certificates awarded by Tampere University meet the highest EU level requirements. You can make copies of the file and keep an electronic signature on the copies. The signature is displayed through signature in the PDF file. In addition, the authenticity of the signature can be verified using the Digital and Population Data Services Agency's "Inspect PDF Document" service Fineid - Check the PDF document or on  TAU's website The verification of electronic documents | Tampere University (tuni.fi)

The digital certificate is the student’s official degree certificate. Students can print a paper copy of the certificate or request to have a copy when they apply for graduation. Students are informed by email when the copy of the certificate has been posted. After graduation you can also pick up the copy from the Student Affairs Office.

Copy of the degree certificate

Also in the future, you can order a verified copy of your digital degree certificate from the Student Affairs Office, for example, when you are applying for postgraduate studies or work abroad. Verified copies of the degree certificate are issued for specific needs. In these cases, Tampere University typically sends the copy directly to the recipient in a sealed envelope. A new degree certificate due to a name change can be issued in conjunction with gender confirmation.

You can request an officially certified copy of your original paper degree certificate using this form. The fee for the copy is 50 euros. The copy can be delivered electronically as a PDF via secure mail (requires authentication) or you can pick it up from the Student Affairs Office. The copy can also be sent by post directly to an educational institution, an authority, or an organization that recognizes degrees.

Graduation with distinction (Bachelor's and Master's programmes)

According the faculty’s decision, a graduate of its bachelor’s or master’s programmes may graduate with distinction if set criteria are met. The criteria for graduating with distinction are specified in Tampere University's Regulations of Degrees.

According to the decisions made by the faculties BEN, ENS, ITC, MET and MAB, from 1 August2020 onwards it is possible to graduate with distinction in all Bachelor of Science(Technology), Master of Science (Technology) and Master of Science (Architecture) degrees. Note! The decision was valid until July 31, 2024 for the Bachelor of Technology (Architecture) and Master of Science (Architecture) degrees.

In addition, it is t is possible to graduate with distinction in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor ofScience, Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees completed in the following degree programmes:

Information about the Diploma Supplement

Along with the degree certificate, degree graduates will receive a Diploma Supplement, inEnglish and free of charge, for international use.

According to the pages of the Finnish National Agency for Education "The Europass Diploma Supplement describes the nature, background, level, content and status of the studies completed by the holder of thesupplement. It is a personal document providing information on its holder. The Diploma Supplement does not replace the original diploma nor guarantee that the authorities of some other country will formally recognise the original degree. However, the supplement makes the diploma easier to understand and may thus help the individual to have the degree recognised by the competitive authority or the personnel deciding on admissions to the higher educationinstitution."
