Where to get help in crisis?
The Crisis Group supports our community and all its members when needed and provides situational emotional first aid in the event of traumatic crisis situations in the community. The aim of TAMK's crisis work is to support community members so that after a sudden and traumatic event, they can feel that they have received professional and respectful emotional first aid when they need it and can move on with their lives.
When faced with a crisis in our community, everyone responds individually, in their own way. It is natural for any crisis situation to cause intense feelings, emotions and/or unreal feelings. A crisis upsets the balance of life and often creates the need to deal with it in one's own community. One does not have to cope with one's own feelings alone. Dealing with your own thoughts and feelings together with others helps you to cope and move forward.
The Crisis Group is there to support our community and all members of our community when needed, and to provide situational emotional first aid in traumatic crisis situations that affect the community. These situations may include sudden death of a community member, serious accidents, suicide, attempted suicide, violence, threats, fire and other upsetting events.
The aim of TAMK's crisis work is to support community members so that after a sudden and shocking event, they can feel that they have received professional and respectful emotional first aid when they need it and can move on with their lives. The crisis team provides consultation and training to staff (e.g. liaison officers in the different offices, teacher trainers) as necessary. The crisis team is part of the TAMK safety and rescue organisation.
Please contact a member of the Crisis Team in crisis situations where the need for aftercare may arise. The Crisis Group is led by Lecturer Jussi Savolainen, who also acts as a convener of the group. The composition of the Crisis Group and contact details can be found in the Intra Handbook on the Post-crisis procedure
