For Open UAS students
Instructions for Open University of Applied Sciences (Open UAS) students
You have received an email confirmation regarding the course you have been accepted to as an open UAS student. This guide explains how to get started with your studies.
Starting your studies
Your studies begin as outlined in the course description. If the course includes contact teaching, check the schedule and classroom in TAMK’s Timetable Engine.
You will also find course-related instructions on the online learning platform Moodle. All TAMK online courses are in TUNI Moodle. To access Moodle, you need a user account, which you can activate following the instructions below.
If you cannot find the information you need, contact avoinamk [at] tuni.fi (avoinamk[at]tuni[dot]fi).
Complete these steps
- 1
Activate your TUNI user account
If you do not have a valid TUNI (Tampere universities) user account yet, activate your username and password. Activation will take effect the following day.
Activate your TUNI user account
If you have problems with activation, please contact the Helpdesk by email: it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi (it-helpdesk[at]tuni[dot]fi).
- 2
Set up multifactor authentication
The online and digital services at TAMK require multifactor authentication. Multifactor authentication (MFA) involves additional authentication on your mobile phone or USB security key when logging in to online services. MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account when you log in to the TUNI electronic services, especially if your password has ended up in the wrong hands.
The use of MFA only requires a smartphone that is connected to the internet and can be equipped with the Microsoft Authenticator app that is available for download on Android and Apple phones.
- 3
Log in to learning platform Moodle
You will need a TUNI user account when you log in to TAMK's digital services, such as TUNI Moodle, where the course workspace is usually found. If another learning platform is used as a learning environment, this is mentioned in the course description, and the teacher usually also informs about this by e-mail.
Note that your TUNI username will not start working in TAMK's services until the next day after you have activated it.
- 4
Follow TAMK's e-mail
It is important to follow TAMK's e-mail, as teachers often send e-mail messages to students. You can also receive other important information related to studying in your e-mail.
- 5
Complete information security and privacy training
Once you have activated your TUNI user account, you will receive an email about the information security and privacy training. Training is mandatory for all the users of TUNI services. The course is delivered as an online course in TUNI Moodle. You must complete the course within 29 days after user account activation. If the course is not completed by the deadline, your TUNI password will be reset.

After the course ends, order electronically signed transcript and certificate
After the course ends, teachers have three weeks to assess your performance. After that you can order an electronically signed transcript and certificate from Student’s Desktop Pakki using your username and password.
The authenticity of the electronic signature is verified using a certificate issued by the Finnish Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV). Recipients can verify the document’s authenticity and integrity by using the Atomi Validator Service.
After your Open UAS study right ends, your completed studies can be found in the My Studyinfo service.
