Grading of study modules

Studies form and the degree structure is usually based on study modules, which often need to be assessed. Also, people other than degree students, such as Open University students and alumni students, may complete study modules.

A study module can be assessed based on an application once all the studies included in the module have been completed. Only some study modules are assessed modules, such as: General studies, Basic studies, Intermediate studies, Advanced studies and Free choice study modules.

Degree Students

• Assessment requests are automatically included with the graduation request, so you do not need to apply separately for assessment.
• If you need assessment and a grade already during your studies, you may apply for assessment following the instructions below.
• For some degree students, study modules are assessed automatically during the studies without a separate request (e.g., students of the Licentiate of Medicine programme).

Other Students

• Open University students: Applications are submitted outside Sisu (see “Open university students” at the bottom of the page).
• Other student groups: See Sisu instructions below.

How to request for the Assessment of a Study Module in Sisu

These instructions follow Sisu’s old study structure view. The instructions will be updated once the new view is taken into primary use.

1. Check that the status of the module is "parts completed.”
   The module must be in your study plan, the module selections must be completed, and all selected courses must be completed.
2. If you have modified the module content, any selections must be approved. See also Sisu instructions: Structure of studies and PSP  → Free edit mode.
3. Open the study module brochure by clicking the link under the module name.
4. Select “Request assessment.”
5. After you have submitted the request:
   1. The request becomes visible on the module’s brochure.
   2. From there, you can also open the request or cancel it.
   3. The request is also visible in Sisu → My Profile → Applications and Requests.
   4. When your request is approved, you will be notified in Sisu.
   5. The module will show the grade and the status “completed” in PSP structure view.
   6. The completion will also appear in My Profile → Completed credits.
