Joint Studies in Public and Global Health, 7–12 cr

Upon completion of this study module the student is expected to grasp the principles of studying in the university and to be familiar with the Tampere University as a study environment. The student is also expected to be aware of the structure, requirements and learning outcomes of their degree programme, and the learning, study guidance and counseling opportunities available to them. The student makes a personal study plan together with an appointed teacher. Scientific writing and interncultural competence modules are included as well as an information searching module offered by the library. Language courses (Finnish and Swedish) are included and vary based on sthe students background.

The aim of the Joint Studies module is to support the student with their study skills and personal development throughout the studies. Upon successful completion of the joint studies the student is familiar with the university and Master level studies and knows the structure of their Master's degree programme. The student is able to plan the studies independently and responsibly and understands the importance of one’s own independent work in progressing in the studies. The student knows how to find help and advice and how to seek information needed in the studies and how to use university's ICT services, including library services. They also have the skills to communicate within their own field in an interncultiral setting using academic English.
