Advanced Studies in Aircraft Engineering, At least 80 cr

Tampere University
Description

This is the 80 Credit Major in advanced studies introduces aircraft engineering to the student. There are nine taught academic units to be taken and passed in addition to the advanced studies module and the masters thesis, with KONE.700 Introduction to Aircraft Engineering needing to be taken first. If other modules are taking place that semester, the student may also take the additional classes.

The major is comprised of units that give a strong overview of the aircraft engineering and aviation field, including advanced aeronautical calculations of fluid flow/ flight mechanics and loads and structures. This major well suited for most specialist students who on completion of their studies will be working in the aircraft industry, and seek a career as a graduate aircraft engineer as a technical specialist in a professional engineering post.

A student cannot include a study unit in the DI degree if the compulsory study units of the study unit have been included in the university of applied sciences degree.

Objectives
The major subject of aeronautical engineering gives the student the skills to understand the basics of aeronautical engineering and the operation of aircraft-related systems. The major provides the skills to understand and apply the operation of aerodynamics, aircraft structures, avionics systems, hydraulic systems, aircraft engines, bleed air and other compressed air systems, and fuel systems. In addition, the major provides the skills to apply computational tools to the design and analysis of aircraft systems. In addition, the student gets the skills to communicate in the substance area with both experts and the public. In the major, the capabilities to evaluate and develop one's own activities in the subject area are created. In the major, the capabilities to evaluate and develop one's own activities in the substance area are created and the opportunity for scientific postgraduate studies in the field is provided.
