Course topics include establishing a database, updating data and posing queries in SQL language, database modelling and design. In addition, history and development trends of databases and principles of database management systems are covered briefly.

The course is completed by submitting exercises and course work to the learning environment of the course, as well as taking the exam in an electronic environment. This completion method includes question and answer sessions and exercise groups, participation in which is voluntary. Lecture slides and educational videos are available to support studying.

The competence test is performed in an electronic environment. This completion method is suitable for those students who already have a background in the basics of databases, but who have not yet completed this course. Teaching materials are available to support preparation for the competence test.
