Instructions for outgoing cross-institutional students
TAMK offers plenty of options for TAMK degree students to enroll for courses offered by other UASes and universities. The most significant collaboration networks offering courses to TAMK degree students are Tampere Higher Education Cross-Study Network and CampusOnline networks. Students can enroll for cross-study courses through Pakki.
Your degree program may also be involved in field-specific networks which are targeted specifically to your degree programme.
Student, please always confirm in advance, if a cross-institutional course can replace or be accredited into your degree. Check this with the teacher responsible for a corresponding TAMK course. A course with the same name at another university will not automatically replace a course of your own TAMK degree program. Otherwise, you may end up studying a course that cannot be placed as part of your degree.
You can include cross-institutional studies into your elective studies, if there is space for them in your degree.
Cross-studies of Tampere universities are moving to Pakki
Tampere higher education cross-institutional studies are being transferred from the old external service (https://ristiinopiskelu.tuni.fi/) to Pakki. After the transition, all administration of Tampere higher education cross-studies will take place inside Pakki.
In the Tampere higher education cross-studies you will find courses offered by Tampere University and the Police University College. In this network both online, blended and contact teaching courses are available. The study attainments will be transferred automatically to Pakki. Besides degree students, enrollment for these studies is available also for TAMK's exchange students, professional teacher education students and open UAS path students.
Tampere University's cross-study courses for TAMK students can be found as a listing in the university's student guide.
Transition schedule
- November 2025: The old website of the Tampere cross-institutional studies switches to read-only mode. You can still browse the course offering of the year 2025, but enrolling for courses is disabled.
- 1 Nov 2025: TAMK students can enroll for Tampere University courses through Pakki. The Police University College will not publish any cross-study courses yet.
Enroll for cross-institutional studies through Pakki
The cross-study enrollment functionality is available inside TAMK's Pakki study administration system. TAMK degree students, Open UAS path students and Professional teacher education students can enroll for courses offered by other universities and UAS:s.
When TAMK students enroll for cross-study courses in Pakki, there is no course fee - the courses are free of charge. Please note that if you enrol for the same course via another route, e.g. open UAS, open university or Opin.fi service, the course is usually subject to a course fee for you.
In case you enrolled through Pakki, after completing the course the study attainments from the organizing university will automatically be transferred into your personal study plan (HOPS) - without a separate credit transfer application.
Study carefully the cross-study instructions for TAMK students:
List of cross-study networks in the study guide
The cross-study networks and courses that require enrollment through Pakki can be found in the TAMK study guide under the section Cross-Institutional Studies.
However, please note that your degree program may not be involved in all the networks mentioned in the study guide. Your fellow student may have a different set of courses available in their Pakki, if they are studying in a different degree programme.
Cross-institutional studies through another route
TAMK is involved in several networks that have their own operating policies, and you can find instructions on each network's website.
- KiVANET: From the KiVANET network you can find a wide variety of language courses from A1 to C1 levels. The language course learning paths have been built based on digital pedagogics. The courses are open for free to all the students in universities and UAS that are part of the network. You can find the KiVANET courses and study policies on the KiVANET website.
- FITECH: You can find university courses which are free of charge on the Fitech website.
Credit transter for studies not having enrollment through Pakki
If you have completed courses in another way outside of TAMK, you can apply for credit transfer by using the Credit Transter Application function in Pakki. You can also apply for credit transfer of courses completed at international universities.
Credit transfer of other study attainments:
- Verify your studies through the My Studyinfo > My completed studies (Oma opintopolku) service, retrieve the link of your completed course from the service, and make a credit transfer application in your Pakki system.
